ART BY CHRISTY
A childhood illness led to Christy Works-Boutte’s loss of hearing at the age of one. Christy’s love of vibrant colors and the ability to create harmony using thick oil paints has become a trademark of her paintings. Her love of and passion for art grew while attending the world-renowned Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. There she developed a strong artistic style, and in 2000, became the school’s first deaf student to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. All of Christy’s paintings continue to be works from the heart where she states they are “from my heart to yours.” Christy has been blessed with significantly increased popularity in recent years. She has obtained a vast and diverse resume and has enjoyed creating the posters for Gretna Heritage Festival, New Orleans Wine and Food Experience, The International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo, The Jean Lafitte Seafood Festival, and others including the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival which was named the “Best Festival Poster” of 2008 by the Louisiana Association of Fair and Festivals. Returning to America after a six year deployment in West Germany, our brewmaster dreamed of creating a beer that would pair with the Cajun cuisine he grew up eating. Living in Europe, he had learned to appreciate the regional foods and beers of many countries, and how they had evolved to complement each other. Taking up brewing beer at home, he taught himself to make several styles of these beers, fine-tuning recipes until he was satisfied that they complimented Cajun and Creole food. After returning to Arnaudville, he taught his brothers and collaborating they brewed commemorative batches of beer for their family’s holiday meals.
Bayou Teche Brewing was founded on this simple dream – to craft beers that compliment the cuisine and lifestyle of Cajuns and Creoles. With that mission, the Knott brothers decided on St. Patrick’s Day in 2009 to convert a discarded rail road car into a farmhouse brewery.

Michelob is a 5% abv pale lager developed by Adolphus Busch in 1896 as a “draught beer for connoisseurs”. It was named after Michelob Michelob, a Bohemian brewmaster from Saaz, in the region famous for its Saaz hops. In 1961, Anheuser-Busch produced a pasteurized version of Michelob which allowed legal shipment of the beer across state lines. Bottled beer began to be shipped soon after, and the brand was introduced in cans in 1966. Bottled Michelob was originally sold in a uniquely-shaped bottle named the teardrop bottle because it resembled a water droplet. The teardrop bottle was awarded a medal from the Institute of Design in 1962. Five years later the bottle was redesigned for efficiency in the production line, and later it was abandoned for a standard bottle. The teardrop bottle was used again from January 2007 to October 2008.

The Anno 1366 on the Stella Artois logo refers to the origin of brewing in the city of Leuven. The city’s tax records dated 1366 mention the existence of a local brewpub called Den Hoorn, (‘Hoorn’ in Dutch meaning ‘Horn’ in English, as is represented in the logo on the beer label). The name Artois was coupled to the brewery in 1708, when new owner Sebastian Artois achieved the title of master brewer. The frame that surrounds the name Stella Artois on the label refers to the traditional style of window frame found in Flemish architecture.
