YOU + 1 OR YOU + 3 // WHO SAID RUNNING IS AN INDIVIDUAL SPORT?
Run The Louisiana Marathon® with a 2-Person or a 4-Person team and make the most of it. For the 2-Person, grab a friend and each of you will race 13.1 miles. Or pull a 4-Person team together and unlike a golf scramble, you only have to do your part. Beg, borrow, or steal 3 friends and race 6.55 miles each. You don’t need a caddy, but you may need a driver.
The Relay Team packets will be distributed at the Wellness & Fitness Expo and will contain all materials and supplies for each of the runners on the team. Only one member of the team may pick up the packets for the team, but all team members are encouraged to come help in the pick-up and distribution of team packets and premiums.
Substituting Relay Team Members: If you need to substitute a participant on your relay team, have the substitute complete the Switching Relay Participant Request Form which may be done at packet pick-up at the Expo. There is a $10 fee to make the substitution.
2 PERSON TEAMS:
- The 1st runner will run the first 13.1 split and the 2nd runner will run the second 13.1 split
- Our timing company will have you scored as a 2-person relay
- You will receive a relay shirt and medal

At the Start
Leg 1 runners start at the same time as the other marathon runners – 7:00 a.m. There is not a separate start for the Relay Teams.
Leg 2, 3, and 4 relay runners will be bused to their respective exchange zone. They should report to the relay bus loading area, located in front of the Louisiana Tourism Visitors Center on River Road. Volunteers will direct these runners to the buses. Buses for the second runner will depart from 6:20 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. from the relay staging area Buses for the third runner will depart from 6:50 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and buses for the fourth leg will depart from 7:00 a.m. to 7:10 a.m.
Completing Your Leg
When relay runners have completed their leg of the race, they will be bused to the Finish Line area. All relay runners returning from the exchanges will be allowed in the Recovery Area of the Finish Line for food, beverages, medals, goodies, etc.
Meet your teammates at the Relay Reunion Area at the Finish Festival. Team photos may be taken here.
See the relay baggage exchange instructions that let you control the retrieving of your gear. Please do not leave valuables.
Relay runners need to keep up a 16:00 minute per mile pace or risk being caught by the sag wagon. Runners caught by the sag wagon have a choice of getting on and ending their race, or moving to the sidewalks.
Relay Baggage Exchange
Each runner will create 2 bags: one to take with them to their zone, with their pre-run gear, and another bag of post-run gear to get when they reach the zone at the end of their relay leg.
Relay runners will have the previous runner’s clothes bag with them and hand it to the incoming runner.
