The Louisiana Marathon is currently looking for a several intern-coordinators who will work with our race production krewe from May through January 2015.

We are staffing the following areas:

  • Marketing
  • Digital Content Production
  • Sales & Fulfillment
  • Race Operations
  • Event Planning

Marketing
The Marketing Intern reports to the Communications Director. In addition to working with the Communications Director, this position works closely with the creative production and the Marketing Director team to ensure marketing initiatives and messaging is in sync.
The Marketing Intern will work with the Communications Director to manage the following…
Research
• Work with Director to conduct primary research such as surveys, and interviews
• Process, organize and report findings
• Conduct comparative set studies

Marketing Presentations
• Assist with the planning, creation and delivery of presentations to internal and
external audiences
• Share presentations in the digital space where necessary

Sales Fulfillment
• Work with Director to keep track of and monitor sales fulfillment needs
• Work with Director to solidify a fulfillment plan for all clients/sponsors
• Work to develop a timeline and checklist for fulfillment items
• Communicate continuously with Marketing Director and Sales team on fulfillment
• Create monthly sales/fulfillment reports

Social Media
• Work with Communications Director and Marketing Director on Social Media Push Strategy
across all social platforms
• Create and maintain social media calendar
• Work with creative content team to produce digital assets
• Schedule social media posts

Public Relations
• Work with Communications Director on providing key content to local media
• Manage key influencer content request
• Work with Communications Director & Marketing Director on PR Strategy and deployment

Fundraising Partners & Charities
• Support content requests from fundraising partners and charities
• Ambassador support


Digital Content Production
The Creative Production Internship role falls within the Marketing/Communication and will work with both the Marketing Communications Director and the Marketing Director to ensure marketing initiatives and messaging are in sync. He/she will gain experience and work on the following…

Website
• Work with Marketing Director & Communications Director to maintain website and produce
digital assets needed for site

Email
• Create digital assets necessary for emails
• Work in MailChimp to create emails

Videography
• Work with Marketing Director & Communications Director to produce short videos for
online consumption. This may include shooting and editing video, loading online and
pushing out via owned media.
• Review videos we currently have and prep for digital distribution

Social Media
• Work with Communications Director and Marketing Director on Social Media assets needed
across platforms
• Manage social media asset files

Photography
• Work with Marketing Director & Communications Director to capture photos as needed for
owned, earned, social media outlets
• Review photos we currently have and prep for digital distribution

Blog
• Create digital assets for blog, which may include photos, videos, graphics, etc.

Ads
• Work with Communications Director and Marketing Director on creating ads of various
sizes for various media
• Manage ad files and updates

Sales Support
• Work with Marketing & Sales team on creating assets/documents needed such as one
sheets, keynotes, etc.

Sales & Fulfillment
The Louisiana Marathon, a three-day running festival is looking for a Sales Intern.
The position reports to Catherine McKay, the Sales Director and works with Craig Sweeney, the Race Director. In addition, this position works closely with the marketing & communication teams to update them on sales and fulfillment developments and needs.

The Sales Intern will

Work with the Sales Director to manage the following…
• Participate in a series of sales team orientation activities
• Explore sales offerings and program management policies, goals, objectives

Participate in sales team status meetings
• Help plan, contribute and annotate meeting discussion points and activities with sales
team lead

Presentation Planning & Pitches
• Support sales team lead with presentation/proposal activities, assist with formatting
packages and proposals in word, excel, prezi and keynote

Prospecting
• Assist sales team lead with prospecting and profiling opportunities, research

• Assist sales team with updates to this extranet and help manage the sales funnel
documentation on a regular bases, update sales cash and in-kind reports for team review

Fulfillment Planning & Delivery
• Assist with confirming and securing sponsorship fulfillment with Marketing, Operations and
Sales teams

Attend LAMOC Monthly Meetings (Louisiana Marathon Organizing Committee)
• Help Sales team prepare for and manage sales updates with the committee
• Schedule Posted to thelouisianamarathon.com/lamoc-2 (pw 2014)

Close Out Annual Sponsorship Review
• Post-event, assist with surveys, feedback, race recaps and fulfillment documentation

Participate in an Exit Interview
• Wrap up tenure with organization by participating in an exit interview process to validate
and gather feedback about the internship-coordinator program


Race Operations
The Operations Intern works with the Operations Director, as well as the Race Course Director and the marketing & communication teams to update them on entertainment/event developments.
The Operations Intern will work with the Operations Director to manage the following…

Overall Operations Plan
• Work with Operations Director to create and update an operations manual
• Work with all team directors on necessary content for the operations manual

Vendor Relations
• Help secure and manage estimates from vendors
• Manage vendor relations

Operations Action Items List
• Create and manage an ongoing action items list for operations team
• Attend LAMOC/Ops meetings
• Provide agendas, discussion points for ops meetings
• Provide post meeting notes
• Write monthly reports on what has been done and what needs to be next month


Event Planning
The Event Planning Intern reports to Heather Day, the Events Director. In addition to working with the Events Director, this position works closely with the marketing & communication teams to update them on entertainment/event developments. The Event Planning Intern will work with the Event Planner to manage the following…

Overall Events/Entertainment Plan
• Work with Events/Entertainment Director to create and update and overall plan for all
events and entertainment as it pertains to the 2015 race
• Work with Marketing and Communication teams on key information that needs to be
communicated about the events/entertainment
• Work with Marketing and Communication teams on a list of digital assets needed for the
promotion of and execution of events/entertainment

Vendor Relations
• Help secure and manage estimates from vendors
• Manage vendor relations

Operations Action Items List
• Create and manage an ongoing action items list for events/entertainment
• Post/email updates for action items to all directors


Program Overview
We have broken this internship-coordinator program into two (2) periods:

(1) FOR-CREDIT PERIOD = 300 hours May 2013 – August 31, 2014 (unpaid, for credit, lots of tutorials and educational conversation planned for our executive team and you, as well as time with your moderator/ teacher sponsor)

(2) FOR-PAY PERIOD = September 1, 2014 until the end of the event, January 30, 2015. The compensation structure for the For-Pay period is an hourly rate. If, upon completion of the For-Credit period, both parties want to explore a flat fee or retainer model: this can be determined. The flat fee or retainer model will be no less than the average hour per week rate. The switch would ease the workload of tracking hours/efforts on both parties.
