BIENVENUE! AU MARATHON LOUISIANE VIDEO
On January 17, 2016, the fifth annual running of The Louisiana Marathon will take place in Louisiana’s capitol city, Baton Rouge. Established in 2012 to become a major racing event and festival celebrating the passion for running and Louisiana culture, this multi-race format has a distance for everyone. Participants can choose from a full, half, or quarter marathon; a 5K; and a kids marathon.
Friends, family and curious spectators line up along the 26.2 picturesque miles of roadways filled with inspiring sights and sounds to cheer on the many that chose to run.
The Louisiana Marathon course is a fast, flat, festive path that take runners from downtown, along the river, through the University Lakes, the Louisiana State University campus, and through historic rivertown neighborhoods.
No matter how well organized a race might be, it could never be a successful event and festival without volunteers. We realize the importance of volunteer time and service, but more importantly, we know how to appreciate it. Our racing festival requires over 1000 volunteers. Are you ready to be in that number? BLUE CROSS AND BLUE SHIELD OF LOUISIANA
We’re member-owned, not-for-profit and wellness-oriented. Our mission is to improve the lives of Louisianians. We’re owned by our members and we’re committed to the health of the state we call home.
LOU!S!ANA – PICK YOUR PASSION
We have a strong running community. Groups like Claim Your Journey champion #RUNLA to encourage people in and around the state, including visitors to Louisiana to go for a run. Running clubs and stores support the Louisiana Marathon and lead training clinics throughout the year. Our weather allows kids and adults of all ages to run the roads, levees, spillways, trails, parade routes. Join us in a run.
Louisiana cuisine is said to be the only indigenous cuisine of the United States. Our food reflects a cultural history that spans centuries. Whether you sample boudin in Lafayette, savory meat pies in Natchitoches, Oysters Rockefeller in New Orleans, or a modern culinary classic crafted from a James Beard award-winning chef, you’re sampling the rich mix of Louisiana’s heritage. LOUISIANA Travel – Food.
It’s the birthplace of America’s only indigenous art form – jazz – but Louisiana also is home to a host of musical styles ranging from country, gospel and blues to hip hop, rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll. We enjoy an embarrassment of riches in musical talent. When you come to Louisiana, don’t miss the music! LOUISIANA Travel – Music.
We believe our event can make RUNNING a part of the Louisiana vocabulary. By falling in love with running, we will eat better, move more and party the right way. And as kids of all ages engage in the sport, we can “laugh” all the way home from a check up! It is not an accident that we cling to the phrase laissez les bon temps rouler.
