IT’S A RUNNING FESTIVAL

BIENVENUE! AU MARATHON LOUISIANE VIDEO

A RUNNING FESTIVAL WITH LAGNIAPPE

We sold out all races in 2016 because our event is more than a race, its a festival and a culturally rich one at that. Louisiana is well known for its festivals, where we celebrate with food, music and dancing.  The Louisiana Marathon adds running to that mix for a truly unforgettable weekend. Come run a fast, flat, & fun race course and then enjoy a true Louisiana Festival featuring local musicians, locally brewed craft beer, and some of the best southern cuisine around.

The Louisiana Marathon was established in 2012 to be a major racing event on the winter road racing calendar and running festival celebrating the passion for the sport combined with the Louisiana culture.

Rendezvous6 is scheduled for January 13-15, 2017 and will be the sixth annual running of The Louisiana Marathon. It will take place in Louisiana’s capitol city, Baton Rouge.  This multi-race format has a distance for everyone. Participants can choose from a full, a half, a quarter marathon, a 5K, and a kids marathon.

Friends, family and curious spectators line up along the 26.2 picturesque miles of roadways filled with inspiring sights and sounds to cheer on the many that chose to run.  The Louisiana Marathon course takes runners from downtown, along the river, through the University Lakes, the Louisiana State University campus, and through historic rivertown neighborhoods.

NOT A RUNNER YET? NO PROBLEM
No matter how well organized a race might be, it could never be a successful event and festival without volunteers. We realize the importance of volunteer time and service, but more importantly, we know how to appreciate it. Our racing festival requires over 1000 volunteers. Are you ready to be in that number?  Please email volunteer@thelouisianamarathon.com

LOU!S!ANA – PICK YOUR PASSION

Run

We have a strong running community of all ages who run the roads, levees, spillways, trails, and parade routes – to name a few. Running clubs and stores around the state partner with The Louisiana Marathon and we visit training clinics and group runs throughout the year.

Eat

Louisiana cuisine is said to be the only indigenous cuisine of the United States, which  reflects a cultural history that spans centuries. Whether you sample boudin in Lafayette, savory meat pies in Natchitoches, Oysters Rockefeller in New Orleans, or a modern culinary classic crafted from a James Beard award-winning chef, you’re sampling the rich mix of Louisiana’s heritage. LOUISIANA Travel – Food.

Dance

It’s the birthplace of America’s only indigenous art form – JAZZ – but Louisiana also is home to a host of musical styles ranging from country, gospel and blues to hip hop, rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll to funk and zydeco. We enjoy an embarrassment of riches in musical talent. Don’t miss the music! LOUISIANA Travel – Music.

Laugh

Part of our mission is to make RUNNING a part of the Louisiana story and have our state recognized as the running state of the south. By falling in love with running, runners can “laugh” all the way home from a check up! It is not an accident that we cling to the phrase laissez les bon temps rouler.
