LOUISIANA MARATHON CHARITY PARTNERS
The Louisiana Marathon proudly welcomes the following charity partners to our event and we hope you can run for a cause, a friend, a loved-one. We have helped raise over $405,000 in our first four years and our goal is to raise over $250,000 in 2016.
INTERNATIONAL RETT SYNDROME FOUNDATION
“The International Rett Syndrome Foundation is thrilled to partner with the Louisiana Marathon to raise money for drug discovery efforts to Reverse Rett syndrome. We’ve raised over $100,000 the past two years. The partnership with the LA Marathon is simple and empowering, and allows teams to bond while getting healthy too. Why wouldn’t you do it?”
– Kathryn Kissam, Board of Directors, International Rett Syndrome Foundation
Rett syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females and becoming apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including lost speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and more than half of the children and women lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.

In addition to ensuring everyone can experience endurance events, Ainsley’s Angels of America aims to build awareness about America’s special needs community through inclusion in all aspects of life, by promoting awareness, providing education, and participating as active members in local communities. We are excited to have them rolling in the Louisiana Marathon Series for the third consecutive year!

TEACH FOR AMERICA
“Teach for America is pleased to be a partner of The Louisiana Marathon. This event continues to grow and after our corps members hosted a water station in 2013, we are pleasured that now runners can fundraise for Teach For America as part of the Marathon. Our corps members will also be Kids Ambassadors in area schools as we work in concert with Louisiana Runs & The Louisiana Marathon to increase health and fitness in our youth. With runners from 47 states and 11 countries we are excited for the Marathon this year and know that this great event gives us the opportunity to raise the profile of Baton Rouge, get the word out about Teach For America’s work in Louisiana and promote health and wellness to our community.”
MARY BIRD PERKINS CANCER CENTER
“Cancer prevention starts with a healthy lifestyle, so it is with great enthusiasm that we partner with the Louisiana Marathon. Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is thankful for this unique awareness and philanthropic opportunity to improve survivorship and lessen the burden of cancer.”
– Ethan Bush, Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center
CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION
“The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is very pleased to partner with the Louisiana Marathon. This event will help The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation invest in research that is accelerating our race to find a cure, and in turn, creating a tremendous amount of hope. Our mission is to find a cure and to improve the quality of life for all those living with cystic fibrosis. We have made tremendous gains, but our work is not done. We are looking forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship with the Louisiana Marathon and thank all those who have signed on to join us in our fight.”
