Commemorative Art Prints

The Louisiana Marathon Organizing Committee appreciates art as a part of the RUN+EAT+DANCE+LAUGH motto. We are fortunate to have had great artists produce silk screened art prints for each year of our event. Top Finishers by age group and overall are awarded special versions of these and you can get on of your own.

ABOUT THE PRINT
The 2013 Rendezvous Weekend commemorative art print embodies a quintessential feature, one of many, of our beautiful course – the University Lakes in the shadow of our ever-present Bald Cypress trees, our state tree. This embodies the unique paths runners tackle each day in Louisiana as they take in lakes, bayous, levees, spillways, river roads, and farmlands.
While it’s no accident that the print has the most significant message to The Louisiana Marathon mission: “Making Healthy Living a Tradition – A Louisiana Tradition.” Its also our privilege to work with Manship Theatre this year who has managed our weekend entertainment and championed our new motto: “RUN+EAT+DANCE+LAUGH“.

About The Artist
It is often said that greatness is forged through adversity, and the rise of the talented young artist, Christy Works-Boutte exemplifies this philosophy. A childhood illness led to Christy’s loss of hearing at the age of one. Christy’s determination as a young girl and unwavering belief in herself has continued throughout her career, and led to many successes as an artist.

THE LOUISIANA MARATHON 2012 COMMEMORATIVE ART PRINT // A LIMITED EDITION SERIGRAPH
louisiana-marathon-print-2012

The 2012 commemorative art print showcases a run through Louisiana. The piece depicts the unique paths runners tackle each day: We are privileged to run in the shadows of ever-present Cypress trees along levees, through spillways, down river roads, on trails wrapping bayous and windswept fields. We appreciate the changes in terrain as we climb steep bridge approaches, angle winding roads near historic cemeteries and storied museums, and cool off beneath the canopy of century-old oaks decorated with moss.
Louisiana offers visitors long-lasting influences of our French, Spanish and African ancestry. Our past is well preserved in our architecture, music, food and cultural events that include our amazing festivals and museums of history and fine arts.
