ABOUT THE LOUISIANA MARATHON
The Louisiana Marathon was established to bring to Louisiana and capital city of Baton Rouge its first multi-format event weekend. On January 19, 2014, the eyes of the world will be focused on the main event of the weekend – The Louisiana Marathon. Friends, family and curious spectators will line up along the 26.2 miles of roadways filled with inspiring sights and sounds to cheer on the many that chose to run. The Louisiana Marathon course features a fast, flat, runner-friendly path through the lakes, along the river, around downtown, on the university campus and in historic neighborhoods.
NOT A RUNNER YET? NO PROBLEM
No matter how well organized a race might be, it would STILL be a total disaster without volunteers. We realize the importance of your time and service and are very appreciative.
LOU!S!ANA – PICK YOUR PASSION
We have a strong running community. Groups like Claim Your Journey champion #RUNLA to encourage people around the state (as well as Louisiana visitors) to go for a run. Running clubs/stores support our event and lead training clinics. Our weather allows kids and adults of all ages to run the roads, levees, spillways, trails, parade routes, …
Our food reflects a cultural history that spans centuries. Whether you sample pork boudin in Lafayette, savory meat pies in Natchitoches, Oysters Rockefeller in New Orleans‘ French Quarter — or a modern culinary classic crafted from a James Beard award-winning chef — you’re sampling the rich mix of Louisiana’s heritage. LOU!S!ANA Travel – Food.
It’s the birthplace of America’s only indigenous art form – jazz – but Louisiana also is home to a host of musical styles ranging from country, gospel and blues to hip hop, rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll. Louisiana has produced an incredible wealth of musical talent. When you come to Louisiana, don’t miss the music! LOU!S!ANA Travel – Music.
We believe our event can interject RUNNING into the local vocabulary. By falling in love with running, we will eat better, move more and party the right way. And as kids of all ages engage in the sport, we can “laugh” all the way home from a check up! It is not an accident that we cling to the phrase: “Laissez les bon temps rouler.”
