THE 2018 ART PRINT CONTEST

THE ART PRINT

Each year we’ve partnered with an artist to produce a one-of-a-kind art print to commemorate the event. This year, we are partnering with Baton Rouge Gallery – center for contemporary art (“BRG”) to open up the artist selection process to all artists based in Louisiana.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Submit work to the gallery by midnight on September 15, 2017 in one of two ways either online or via mail. Artists may submit up to three works to be considered for the art print.

IMPORTANT DATES

Submission deadline: on September 15, 2017

Notify Winner: by September 30, 2017

Announcement: in October 2017

ELIGIBILITY

Anyone over the age of 18 living in Louisiana.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Submit work that fits with the Louisiana Marathon’s mission of celebrating running in Louisiana. Artists working in two-dimensional media (including but not limited to painting, photography, digital media, watercolors, printmaking, etc.) are invited to submit their work for consideration. Works will be judged anonymously on the following criteria: 

(1) conceptual & aesthetic quality; 

(2) fits with the mission of “celebrating running in Louisiana” 

(3) overall artistic merit. 

The panel of jurors (which will include both art professionals & representatives from the Louisiana Marathon) will not see the artist’s name or home city during judging. The panel will not comment on any one specific application once the jurying has concluded.

PRIZES & RECOGNITION

The artist selected to be featured will receive a $1,000 cash prize. The artist will also have the opportunity for space at the 2018 Louisiana Marathon Expo where they can sign and number prints of the Louisiana Marathon Art Print, have the original work featured up for sale, and display/sell any other original works of theirs (The Louisiana Marathon will take no commission on any works sold). The artist will also receive up to 25 prints of The Louisiana Marathon Art Print that can be sold or distributed at the artist’s discretion.
