Pace Team // Brad Oswalt (3:15)

Meet Co-Pace Leader for 3:15 Full, Brad Oswalt

What is your Pace Team experience?

Paced 3:30 marathon at RNR New Orleans in 2016. Also paced 1:40 half marathon at Louisiana Marathon in 2017.

What is your best time at the half marathon/marathon?

Best marathon time: 2:57:38 at Houston in 2015.

What do you most enjoy about being a Pacer?

Getting to watch people accomplish the goals that they set for themselves after the struggle of 26.2 miles. It is awesome to see people overcome their self-doubt and realize that they can accomplish those lofty goals they set for themselves.

What are your most favorite parts of the LA half or full course?

Obviously, the first half is very scenic and gets a lot of the attention. But I think my favorite part is the North Blvd. overpass in the final mile of the course. It makes you really question your commitment to your race goals. Do you have that last little bit of drive and determination to attack it? Or are you content to let some time go and back off and just survive it?

Any strategy suggestions?

It is easy to get caught up in the crowds and the scenery when running around the University Lakes, but tangents are critical here. It is easy to add between ¼ and ½ mile to your race here if you lose focus and just follow the crowd. Try to be alert and run the shortest distance possible through the turns
