Meet Pace Co-Leader for 4:00 Full, Matt Holliday

What is your Pace Team experience?

I paced the first half (and last two miles with my fellow pacer!) of the 4:00 marathon group for The Louisiana Marathon last year as a first-time  pacer.

What is your best time at the half marathon/marathon?

Half Marathon: 1:37:23 / Marathon: 3:39:22

What do you most enjoy about being a Pacer?  Seeing these awesome, determined runners accomplish their goals, and getting to run alongside them and motivate them as they make it happen.

What are your most favorite parts of the LA half or full course?

I love running by Tiger Stadium (great crowds, and come on – it’s Tiger Stadium!), and entering the Old Goodwood area (mile 16) is beautiful, with the mature trees and old homes…but I’m a little biased because it’s where I live!

Any strategy suggestions?

If you’re running the full marathon, try to stay slightly ahead of your pace goal for the first 16-20 miles to “bank” some time.  It will give you some cushion as the temperature rises and your legs get tired.
